Working for peanuts is all very fine, but I can show you a better time!
Hey Voxers!
First I'd like to thank everyone who left comments on our vox/books/audio, this is giving us so much strenght! I know I was born to sing and write songs, nonetheless tomorrow I'll have to go to the office again, until something better comes along. This is why your comments are really making us proud of our work, pushing us forward and up.
I'm going to put the finishing touches on the lyrics to one of the new songs. It's about not fitting in, being disappointed by the way things are, by the way others seem to fit in so easily that they too become a part of this big grinding machine. And there's a shooting involved :)
If you were to indicate a song whose lyrics really changed your ways of thinking, what would it be?

What lyrics really changed my way of thinking?
A little background first:
Well, I'm a Christian, and have geen for 34 years, now. (Yes, I'm probably your mom's age :~D) The songs of the 60's and 70's were what I sang through high school, but then I discovered contemporary Christian and those songs really said things to me. The one that comes to mind tonight, I think was recorded by Dallas Holmes; it;s called Praise the Lord. (My husband wants it sung at his funeral)
1.)When you're up against a struggle that shatters all your dreams
and your hopes have been cruely crushed by Satan's manifested schemes
and you feel the urge within you to submit to earthly fears
don't let the faith you're standin' in seem to disappear
(chorus) Praise the Lord
He can work through those who praise Him, praise the Lord
For our God inhabits praise
Praise the Lord for the chains that seem to bind you
serve only to remind you the'll drop powerless behind you when you praise Him
2.) Now Satan is a liar and he wants to make us think
that we are paupers whe he knows himself that we're children of the King
so lift up the mighty shield of faith for the battle has been won
You know that Jesus Christ is risen so the work's already done
(chorus)
It changed my thinking back in college, which probably contributed to my graduating. To be honest, I haven't thought of the words lately. I'm at a point where I should. Thanks for asking!
Hey Something Else, I respect your beliefs and the fact that those lyrics meant so much to you, even though I am not a Christian (not anymore). I believe that certain words, no matter how insignificant to others, can really touch you, move you. And that's why i'm really not judging the lyrics you submitted, like no one can judge the emotion you felt.
One day I will post my thoughts about having been a Christian and we will have fun arguing with each other, are you up for it? :)
Imagine...and I did. For the first time I thought about a world where we weren't at war. It was years before we got out of Vietnam...and then came the fall of communism in Russia. I really had hope that my children might live in a peaceful world. Even with the current situation, I still imagine a peaceful world for my kids and my Grands.
Hey, Glitch, I'm a Christian and look forward to your post. I'm not a debater nor a counselor but just a Christian who appreciates what Jesus did for her. So since Jesus Christ died for me the least I can do is live for Him. I suppose I could say that's my life motto in one sentence.
When you post about not being a Christian anymore will you also share what you live for now that you aren't a Christian? That is asked gently and with interest and care. Have a great day!
I'm with you. I was born in a completely different age when adults stopped thinking about changing the world, when all seemed lost. I had always thought that songs like Imagine could have changed the world and, judging by your words, I know they changed you, so they really did change the world if only just in a person. You don't know how much I appreciated your words on this matter, thank you.
That will be a delicate/dangerous post. It will come when the time is right :)
