We have a new acoustic set.
We have new songs.
They are still demos, some of the words are wrong, some don't make any sense, but still...
Face it, you will NEVER write songs like these :)
If you like our music then please DO SOMETHING!!!
1. Spread the word
2. Contact us for gigs, collaborations, whatever (mail me at sagon@tiscali.it)
3. Visit http://www.myspace.com/wearetheglitch
On one of my first posts I asked everyone why were they here on Vox. Well, we made this page just to submit our music to the A&R guys and, hopefully, to involve their labels in our project. We met a few interesting people along the way and received lots of comments on our music, which was great! One of our main goals, knowing if our work could be appreciated by a wider (and unknown) audience, was reached and it was a success.
This is my last post because there are many important things that I don't really want to share and there are so many more stupid things that "I could" share. I don't want to write a post about my cat sneezing, just as I don't want to start posting pointless comments on other people stuff just to get their attention. I am a musician and my job is to make music, I'm more concerned about writing lyrics than posts :)
I believe this could really be a valid alternative to the old way of getting heard by sending in cds, it's just that I don't feel like there's much more I can do to get ourselves heard without acting like a pathetic attention seeker. If you listened to our songs then you probably can understand why we can't act like that.
THIS IS THE GLITCH.
If you want to work for/on our band, please get in touch!
A taste of our music is here on this page, we will still post relevant news and new music when we got any.
And just to get things in motion...
1. We are looking to do some gigs in Europe this summer/fall so we are currently taking into consideration any kind of venue. Please, let us know if your local venues will accept a band from Italy. We don't travel first class or need four hotel suites filled with roses and champagne, a Ryanair flight, cold pizza and couches for four will do.
2. We are looking for a live promoter for the UK alone, we are looking for a more intensive serie of gigs there during summer/fall. Same as above applies.
3. We are looking for a record deal. Are you an A&R at one of the labels on this site or other major labels? Are you an indie label and wish to sign us? Please, get in touch! We need to be SAVED from our own lives :)
Hey fellow Voxers!
Yes I am swimming against the tide... In the sense that I don't understand how this whole thing works or how this could improve A&R. I don't really want to start posting useless things on other people blogs just to draw attention to my page. I don't even want to add someone as a neighbour (of that's what they are called here) just to have more than anybody else.
This means that, all things considered, after a start-up phase in which good things could actually be heard from the A&R guys, great musicians will drown amongst meaningless pop bands who are just lucky to have friends with too much time on their hands, who could sign up here and post hundreds of messages.
What is the plan exactly? Is this discovering new music? Sure I would enjoy listening to the next Arctic Monkeys (found on myspace, weren't they?) but I also like, and usually find a greater pleasure, in listening to good bands who don't reach a wide audience. The A&R guys will never know about many of us, too many. Some awful bands, maybe awful bands for the most, but also some great bands that will never be heard because people are looking for the next teenager band that has that insertNMEbandofthemonth sound.
Some years ago I was really lucky, I sent some mp3's to R., one of the guys at Sony Music in London and he replied with enthusiasm and the most useful review I ever had. Me! An italian guy who recorded songs in his room getting a review from someone at Sony! Just that alone was a dream come true. He asked me for photos and the demo cd but after a while he let me know he couldn't "sell me" at the time. I am still so grateful for that episode, that really made me stronger, made me believe that what I did was actually good. That's why I'm back now and I doubt that we will ever have this kind of personal relationship with someone at A&R dep. now, that's because with this system our music will always come after lots and lots of young bands with nothing to say but many friends.
I want to get signed just like anyone else but I'm not so willing to play the neighbour thing to get that... Should I?
